Kai’Mia Community’s Driver Licensing Access Program (Kai’Mia DLAP) supports eligible non-drivers to work towards a Provisional Driver Licence (P1).
Support may include the Driver Knowledge Test, supervised driving hours, Hazard Perception Test and Practical Driving Test.
This Program is funded by Transport for NSW.
Eligibility
Who can apply?
Young people aged 16–25 years
Aged 16–25, from a migrant or refugee background, or the child of a migrant or refugee AND experiencing financial hardship or low income.
Applicants aged 26 years and over
Aged 26 years or over, born outside Australia, from a migrant or refugee background AND experiencing financial hardship or low income.
Domestic and family violence victims and single parents aged 26 years and over
Aged 26 years or over, from a migrant or refugee background AND either experiencing domestic and family violence or a single parent. Financial hardship requirements may be waived in some circumstances.
Documents you may need
You may need to provide evidence of your migrant or refugee background, financial hardship, or special circumstances. This may include an ImmiCard, VEVO check, Visa Grant Notification, SSI referral, Centrelink card or statement, bank statement, ADVO, or a letter from a supporting organisation or social worker.
Important information
- The program is for non-drivers only. Learner licence holders are not eligible.
- A valid SSI referral can replace visa documentation.
- Eligibility criteria may change.
